EKtec carries out the installation of switchboard systems on a world-wide basis. We carry out all necessary work in accordance with the customer's requirements, whilst actually sailing, at the quayside, in the shipyard or any combination of locations.

Repairs and fault-finding:

EKtec carries out repairs and fault-finding services on a world-wide basis and again carry out all the necessary work in accordance with the customer's requirements, whilst actually sailing, at the quay side, in the shipyard or any relevant combination.

EKtec is well aware of the importance to ship owners that their vessels are constantly in operation and can maintain their sailing schedules. You will always have direct contact with EKtec - on a 24-hour daily basis. EKtec has experienced staff on duty at all times.

The name of EKtec is the customer's guarantee for a service partner that always does its utmost to comply with the customer's every wish and requirement.

EKtec not only supplies switchboard systems; we also have a staff of technical employees, with considerable experience in faultfinding investigations and switchboard repairs. Such work is carried out on main switchboards, secondary switchboards, control boards, bridge consoles and machine room consoles.

The type of work involved is extremely varied and can include the following: repairs and/or replacement of defective or obsolete components, faultfinding in control/steering systems, (replacement of defect motor starter cabinet, etc.)

Faultfinding regarding earthing faults on switchboards is also a relatively common task for EKtec personnel, which requires evaluation of the character and extent of the problem. This is often caused by moisture and thus demands a complete drying out process of the switchboard.

However, the fault could be even more serious. This could involve a complete cleaning and drying of all components and switchboards due to, for example, salt penetration. It could also be the case that total cleaning cannot solve the problem and that a replacement of the switchboard is imperativ.

If this is the case then we ensure that a new switchboard is manufactured and used as a replacement within the shortest possible time.

Modification of existing systems:

Modification of existing switchboard systems is often required when new or extra equipment is installed. This involves, for example, an extension of the main switchboard in order to accommodate new switches.

With EKtec as your partner you are guaranteed that all work is carried out in full accordance with the regulations and requirements of the involved classification societies.

Extensions to a main switchboard often result in the ship being out of operation for a specified period. EKtec always enters into close dialogue with the customer to ensure that the period required be kept to an absolute minimum, by co-ordinating the work in the best possible manner. The ship can then re-assume normal operations without unnecessary delay.

Another regular Semco Maritime operation involves the installation of new generators. This is often a direct requirement due to the increased power requirements resulting from the installation of more and more new equipment.

In such cases, it is often essential that the main switchboard be extended and reinforced.
